Cheryl L. (Wood) Murphy

Cheryl L. (Wood) Murphy, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at her home in Howlett Hill.

Cheryl spent many years working at both Diane's Beauty Shop and the Walker Insurance Agency in the Tipp Hill area of Syracuse. She later followed a new career path at SUNY CPD, where she worked until her official retirement in 2014.

Cheryl was a beloved mother, sister, and aunt whose presence brought warmth and meaning to the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared with friends and family throughout her life. Cheryl found joy in life's simple pleasures and especially cherished gardening, crocheting, and baking. Above all, she loved sitting in her backyard, soaking up the warm rays of sunshine.

Cheryl was predeceased by her father, Albert Wood, in 1994, and mother, Ruth, in 2019.

Surviving are her son, Kevin Harkola of Howlett Hill; brother, Gary (Janet Williams) Wood of Marcellus; niece, Jennifer (Raymond) Wood of Howlett Hill; and her great-nephews, Jordan, Tyler, and Greyson Kelly, all of Howlett Hill.

Services will be private per Cheryl's wishes.

Cheryl will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse, at a later date.
