Christopher F. Borell

Christopher F. Borell, 78, of Solvay, passed away peacefully Saturday at Upstate Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, Chris was a proud graduate of Solvay High School Class of 1964. He was a member of IBEW local 97 and dedicated over four decades of his career to Niagara Mohawk as a Consumer Relations Representative, retiring in 2008. After retirement, Chris continued to serve his community with compassion and dignity, working part-time in funeral service as a driver and ambassador at several area funeral homes.

Chris had a zest for life and a wide range of interests. He was an avid golfer who found great joy on the course, whether playing a quick nine with friends or spending a full day at his favorite local greens. Golf wasn’t just a hobby—it was a true passion, a source of camaraderie, and a cherished part of his routine. He also enjoyed cooking, took pride in car detailing, and loved traveling with family and friends.

Above all, Chris was a devoted family man. Time with his loved ones—especially his grandchildren—was what he treasured most. His warmth, kindness, and easy-going nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Chris will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

Chris was predeceased by his wife, Michele, in 2024; and parents, Christopher and Mary (Simonelli) Borell.

Surviving are his daughter, Kristen of Syracuse; sons, Christopher Jr. (Mary Beth) of Liverpool, and Michael of Baldwinsville; cherished granddaughters, Isabelle and Elise; brother, Charles Borell of Syracuse; sister-in-law, Marlene (Frank) Maestri; and nieces, Melissa Maestri and Maria Borell.

To celebrate Chris’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated, Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Marianne Cope Parish – St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Solvay.

Chris will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
