David L. Kortz, 83, born on August 23, 1942, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday after a life marked by faith, devotion, and service to others.
David was the beloved husband of Barbara Kortz, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. A devoted and faithful provider, he worked tirelessly to care for his family and ensure their well-being.
David dedicated 45 years of his professional life as an engineer at Anaren Microwave, where he was known as a respected leader and mentor. His strong work ethic, integrity, and steady leadership left a lasting impression on his colleagues and employees.
Outside of work, David found great joy in spending time with his loved ones, going on family vacations, playing and watching sports, gardening, and caring for his beautiful yard. He took pride in planting trees and nurturing the land around him, creating a place of peace and beauty. David was also known for his good sense of humor, often bringing smiles and laughter to those around him with his warmth and gentle wit.
David believed deeply in hard work, leading by example, and treating others with kindness, patience, and respect. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted provider, father, grandfather, and friend whose steady guidance, faith-filled life, and gentle spirit touched many lives.
David was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Dorothy Kortz; and sisters, Nancy Ekstrand and Ellen Kortz.
He was a loving father to his daughter, Kelly Foster; and son, Paul Kortz; and proud grandfather to Kaitlyn and Leanna Foster. He is also survived by his nephew, Brent Ekstrand; niece, Stacy (Greg) Fielder; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
To celebrate David’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
David will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
