David J. Masterpole, 64, of Baldwinsville, was called home to our Lord on Monday, surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend to all who had the good fortune to know him. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, David was a 1977 graduate of West Genesee High School and an Army veteran. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. David worked at Carrier, P&C Warehouse, Costco, and Westhill Golf Course. He was involved for many years in coaching at Holy Family CYO basketball and Little League baseball where he also truly enjoyed coaching his son. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Syracuse University basketball fan and loved watching the games with his son. David cherished time with his family, playing games, going on outings, and golfing. He especially relished time with his two grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
David truly touched many lives and will be greatly missed but forever remembered by all those who had come in contact with him.
David was predeceased by his parents, John and Joan Masterpole.
Surviving are his three devoted children, Anastasia (Irvin) Jones of Syracuse, Sarah Masterpole of Baldwinsville, and Andrew Masterpole of Syracuse; sister, Lynn Freeman of West Haven, UT; grandchildren, Ryan and Ava Jones of Syracuse; companion, Paula Ibrahim of Syracuse; former wife, Mary Ellen Masterpole of Syracuse; best friend, Jim Singer of Florida; beloved dog, Diggs; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, August 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 22 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. David will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
