De Shu “Lizzie” Chen, beloved wife, mother, friend, teacher and Nana, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2020 in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by loved ones. De Shu was born on July 23, 1925 in Shao Xing City, China. She graduated from St. John’s University, Shanghai and went on to pursue a career as a well loved teacher. In 1949, she married the love of her life, Tong Chun Tao, whom she is predeceased by. In 1989, they immigrated to Syracuse.
De Shu was known for being kind, loving, caring and generous and made friends wherever she went. She loved everyone and truly lit up every life she touched.
De Shu is survived by five children, six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
