Diana J. DeLong, 82, of Camillus, passed away Saturday at Francis House. She received her bachelor's degree from Columbia College and was elected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in recognition of outstanding merit and accomplishment as a student. Diana was employed for many years at Carrier Corp. as an inside sales and customer service representative. She also worked as an inside and outside sales representative for different electronic distributors in Syracuse, Albany and Rochester. In Albany, Diana was a liaison to the New York State Procurement Officers. She enjoyed being an election inspector in Rochester and Syracuse.
Diana was passionate about downhill skiing, golfing and was known for her culinary expertise and generosity.
Diana raised two "Darlin' Daughters," as she called them, Debra (Jeff) Marks Shawcross and Tracey (Thomas) Marks Draveck, who followed in that vein. She loved taking them horseback riding, skiing, and figure skating.
Diana's adventurous spirit took her to the top of the Alps in Switzerland, driving cross-country to California, exploring southern Florida and her favorite, Cape Cod.
Diana was predeceased by her infant son, Jeffrey Marks.
Diana was blessed with five precious granddaughters, Emma and Jane Shawcross, and Allison, Kate and Maggie Draveck. She is also survived by her brothers, Thad Sondej of Syracuse and Robert Sondej of Denmark; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be at a later date. Burial will be private.
