Dolores "Dosie" Dugan

May 18, 1930 — December 3, 2025

Englewood, FL and formerly of Camillus

Dolores Ann “Dosie” Dugan, 95, formerly of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in Englewood, FL, surrounded by her family.

Born on May 18, 1930, Dosie grew up in Montclair, NJ. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from Montclair Senior High School in 1947, where she was a member of the Sigma Delta Kappa Sorority. Following high school, she worked at Prudential Life Insurance Company in Newark, NJ. Dosie married her high school sweetheart, Tom Dugan, in 1950. She later worked at Newman Hall at the University of Pennsylvania while her husband completed his degree at the Wharton School. Together, they raised six children. Over the years, the family lived in Baltimore, MD, and Greendale, WI, before settling in Camillus, where they made their home for 57 years.

Dosie was deeply involved in her community and enjoyed participating in a wide range of organizations. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, served as a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, and was president of the Ladies of Trinity and belonged to the Orchard Village Garden Club. Dosie shared a love of politics with her husband and was an active member of the Camillus Republican Club, serving as committee person for the 6th Ward, 24th District. She was also an active communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Camillus, where she was a member of the Golden Agers and volunteered with the food pantry and funeral guild. In addition, she volunteered at St. Camillus for 20 years, assisting residents with shopping trips and fashion shows.

Dosie’s hobbies included cooking, playing bridge, shopping, watching Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, and following sports—especially football and lacrosse. During springtime vacations, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and family in St. Augustine and Crescent Beach, FL. Summers were often spent enjoying weekends at her cottage on Moon Lake and attending Saturday sing-along happy hours in Alexandria Bay. She had a lifelong love of music, singing, and dancing, and participated in tap dance groups for many years.

Dosie was known for her social nature, love of fun, and impeccable style—she could always be found dressed to the nines. She enjoyed meeting friends at the Green Gate, Top of the Hill Restaurant, and with “the gang” at Kirby’s. Dosie’s neighbors fondly remember gathering around her picnic table to talk, sing, and play kazoos to patriotic songs, especially “God Bless America.” She was an amazing, caring, and humble wife, mother, and nanny, as well as the strong matriarch of the Dugan family.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of their mother’s doctors, nurses, and health aides for their compassionate care over the years. Dosie was also lovingly cared for this past year by her daughter, Debbie, and husband Mark.

Dosie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Tom Dugan; parents, James and Florence Monaghan; and dear sister, Janet Curry.

Surviving are her children, Tom (Laura) Dugan of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Debbie (Mark) Cross of Englewood, FL, Mary Ellen Steele of Tully, Betsy (Bill) Markey of Summerville, SC, Bob (Becky) Dugan of Nashville, TN, and David (Eileen) Dugan of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, Kelly and Tommy Dugan, Neil and Jessica Cross, Danny Goodbread, Alison (AJ) Gallo, Adrienne (Steve) Held, Billy Markey, Madeleine, John, Sam, and Mary Charlotte Dugan, and Sarah, Jimmy, and Emma Dugan; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
