Donald Leman Mosher

Donald Leman Mosher, 80, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 27, 2026. He was born March 12, 1946, the son of the late Lewis E. and Bertha L. (Worden) Mosher, and grew up on the family dairy farm near Gouverneur.

Donald began his schooling in a one-room schoolhouse near the farm and graduated from Indian River Central School. He went on to study at the State University Agricultural and Technical College at Canton and graduated with his associate degree in arts and sciences for heating and air conditioning. Donald began his engineering career with Agway and then Robson & Woese before spending many years as an HVAC engineer with Sargent, Webster, Crenshaw & Folley. He continued his work with several other area firms until his retirement.

Donald was known as a kind-hearted, hardworking man whom friends would call when something was about to break (or already had), or when a mechanical/agricultural challenge needed to be addressed. A farm kid at heart, he could build or fix just about anything. Donald was an avid woodworker and a skilled mechanic. He loved the outdoors and was as adept with a bow as he was with a rifle or a rod and reel. He volunteered at the Camillus Erie Canal Park, mowing grass, clearing trees, and working to preserve the park's historic structures. A faithful member of Camillus First United Methodist Church, he also shared his wife Donna's passion for family history. Together, they traveled throughout New York and New England, discovering and preserving the stories of their ancestors.

Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Donna Lee (Flath) Mosher, who passed away in January; and his parents.

Surviving are his sons, Bradley and Brian (Mary Musial); granddaughter, Margaret; siblings, Doug (Janet) Mosher, Denise (Dick) Powell, and Dorothy Wood; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To celebrate Donald’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.

Donald will be laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus.
