Donna (Hoomany) Mancini

Donna (Hoomany) Mancini, 76, of Solvay, passed away peacefully at home on Friday. She was born on July 31, 1949, the daughter of Joe and Carmela (Benedetti) Hoomany. Donna was raised in Solvay and was a graduate of Solvay High School and Bryant & Stratton Business School.

Donna dedicated her professional life to working with several of Syracuse’s prominent law firms. She was known for her meticulous attention to detail and the pride she took in her work. Among her many accomplishments, she was especially honored to have served for many years as private secretary to the Honorable Stewart Hancock.

Outside of her career, Donna found great joy in gardening, and her yard was a vibrant display of flowers throughout the summer months. She was an avid sports enthusiast, both as a participant and spectator, and was known for her competitive spirit. She particularly cherished early summer mornings spent golfing with the Westvale Women’s Golf League.

Donna had a special place in her heart for animals and was rarely without a beloved dog she had rescued from a local shelter.

Surviving are many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom will remember her for her dedication, kindness, and spirited nature.

There will be no calling hours.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Donna’s memory to the Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center, 1010 Woods Rd., Syracuse, NY 13209, or to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue, 7268 Caswell Ave., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
