Dorothy A. Cappuccilli

December 22, 1927 — January 31, 2023

Camillus

Dorothy “Dot” Cappuccilli passed away Tuesday at home. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Dorothy was an avid golfer and longtime member of Tuscarora Golf Club. She enjoyed playing card games, including bridge, traveling, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching. Dorothy relished her time spent at Skaneateles Lake surrounded by family. More than anything, she loved walking hand in hand through life with her lifelong love, Rocky, and spending time with her family, including her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dot worked as a soda jerk in a drugstore when Rocky first started courting her. He would stop in when Dot finished working so that he could walk her home, and after a seven-year courtship (it took him two months to start holding her hand), she married the love of her life.

Dorothy was predeceased by her grandsons, Robby and Joseph Mead; parents, Lee and Stan Dwyer; sister, Carol Dixon; and brother, Jack Dwyer.

Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Rocco; children Mark (Mary Anne), Mary (Jim) Mead, Karen (Michael) Curry, and Timothy; sister-in-law, Diane Dwyer; grandchildren, Kelly Sliwowski, Christopher Cappuccilli, Jennifer Connor, Sean Curry, Jessica Curry Ferris, Megan Fiacco, and Jeremy Mead; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family; and close friends, Dot and Joe Boehm.

The family extends a very warm appreciation to Dorothy’s goddaughter, Lisa (Cappuccilli) Smith, and Erin Brennan, RN, of Hospice of Central New York.

There will be no calling hours.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral Mass Monday, February 6, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church.

Dorothy will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY & Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088; to Joseph’s House, 802 Court St., Syracuse, NY 13208; or to St. Joseph’s Church Food Pantry, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
