Dorothy "Dottie" J. Cleary

June 24, 1935 — October 21, 2021

Dorothy “Dottie” J. Cleary, 86, of Lakeland, passed away Thursday at home with her family by her side. She leaves her five loving daughters to join her beloved late husband, Edward. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Camillus until moving to Lakeland in 1993. A graduate of Vocational High School, Dottie was employed with W.T. Grant in Camillus for six years.

Dottie married the love of her life, Edward T. Cleary in 1980. Together they cherished their five daughters, Marsha and their three precious babies (cats).

Dottie was predeceased by her husband, Edward and grandson, Billy.

Surviving are her daughters, Debra (Russ) Canestrare, Denise (Jerry) Rikhoff, and Donna (Mike) Wall all of Lakeland, Doreen (Ron) Doctor and Darlene (Matt) Wademan of Camillus; stepdaughter, Lynn (Joe) Anderson of Syracuse; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Dottie will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CNY SPCA, 5878 E. Molloy Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211.
