Edward G. Copley, 79, of Syracuse, passed away Monday at Upstate University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of West Genesee High School. Edward was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a Military Policeman. He was employed with Centro for over 20 years and previously worked for Allied Chemical and Church & Dwight Co., Inc.

Edward shared a passion for travel and local history with his family and loved to discuss history, genealogy, and trips around the world. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post and the Camillus Sportsmen Club where he relished spending many mornings target shooting with his sons. A car enthusiast, he loved to go to car shows and shared this interest with his sons, brother-in-law, and many nephews.

Edward treasured life whether it was traveling the world, enjoying his morning coffee with his coffee buddies, or a simple dinner at home with his family. He had a true appreciation for animals and considered all his pets over the years as beloved family members. He was known for his kindness and will be remembered as someone who would always step in and help anyone that needed anything.

Edward was the son of the late William and Ethel Copley of Syracuse.

Edward leaves behind a loving legacy and will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn; sons, William of Clay and Timothy (Deborah) of Boston, MA; daughter, Stacey Copley of Syracuse; grandson, Kyle; sisters, Mary Ann Rink of Jordan and Ellen Seeley of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.

Edward’s sense of humor, huge heart, and quick wit will be remembered by many.
