Edward Alexander Salvagni

Edward Alexander Salvagni, 89, of Camillus, left this world for a better place (In his words, his “lease was up”) on August 7, 2025 after a 32 year, hard fought battle with heart disease. He was born and raised in Solvay, where he met and married his high school sweetheart and lifetime soul mate Janet Blair. Ed graduated from

Solvay High School and New England Technical Institute and dedicated 37 years of service to General Electric in the Heavy Military Department where he received two patents for his inventions. His engineering mind created a liftetime of trying to figure out how to make things work better and he usually succeeded. Ed will be remembered for his quiet strength, devotion to his faith, and deep roots in the community he called home. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed spending time at his sons’ hunting camp. Ed cherished his time with his sons and their families and held them all dear to his heart. He and his wife Janet traveled extensively all over the world and created many wonderful memories, Ed was was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus and the Solvay Tigers. He was a devoted husband and extremely proud of his four sons and all of his grandchildren. Ed was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. To know Ed was to love him. His unqiue sense of humor will be fondly remembered by many.

Edward was predeceased by his parents, Silvio and Dina; brothers Silvio and Richard; sister, Anita Salerno; grandson, Nick Salvagni; granddaughter, Meagan Barto; and daughter-in-law, Andrea Salvagni.

Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, the former Janet Blair; sons, Mike (Tamra) of Memphis, Greg of Thousand Oaks, CA, Kevin of Land O Lakes, FL, and Brian of Avon, OH; grandchildren, Michael (Aimee), Isacc, Andrew (Lindsay), Daniel, Alec, Jillian (George) Saba, Dr. Marissa, and Hailey; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

To celebrate Ed’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 West Genesee St., Camillus, A funeral Mass will follow.
