Edward J. Widowski

Edward J. Widowski, 92, of Fairmount, passed away Monday at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Scranton, PA, he served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Ed retired from Allied Chemical Corp. in 1988 after 33 years as a maintenance supervisor. He also worked at his beloved wife’s family business, South Side Recreation Lanes. Ed’s favorite times were spent with his family, golfing and watching the Yankee games. Two times of the year that were special to him were Christmas Eve, when the family gathered together, and the New York State Fair. His first stop was the Veterans Memorial, where a walkway brick with his name, commemorates his service in the Army.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Stella; brothers, Leo, William, and John; and sister, Lois Widowski Kananen.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Carmela Piraino; children, Carol LaMontagne, Linda Burns, Nancy (Don) DeJohn, and Paul (Anna) Widowski; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Widowski; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 18 at 9 a.m. at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
