Frances McManus Knorr

Frances McManus Knorr, 93, of Camillus, NY, Big Moose Lake, NY, and Port Orange, FL, passed away peacefully at her home on November 19, 2025. Born and raised in Binghamton, she moved to Camillus in 1955. Fran graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Binghamton and attended the C.S. Wilson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She went on to earn both a BSN and a master’s degree in Health Education.

Fran worked as a registered nurse at Syracuse University for more than 20 years, where her greatest passion was her daily interaction with students. After retiring, she continued that calling as a part-time nurse at Onondaga Community College. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a member of Holy Family Church in Camillus and the Big Moose Community Chapel in the Adirondacks.

Fran was active in many volunteer roles, including taking blood pressures at Holy Family, coordinating communion outreach for homebound parishioners, volunteering with the Girl Scouts, participating in the Big Moose Property Owners Association, and helping with the annual bazaar at the Big Moose Community Chapel. Outside of volunteering, she especially loved canoeing in the Adirondacks, golfing, and spending time with friends.

Fran was predeceased by her husband, W. Arthur; grandson, Zachary Como; parents, M. James and Helen McManus, and brother, M. James McManus.

Surviving are her daughters, Jeanette (Richard) Engel of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Karen Como of Canyon Lake, CA, and Leslie (Robert) Zink of Daytona Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; brother, Charles (Sharon) McManus of Jekyll Island, GA; and sister-in-law, Constance McManus of Sun City, AZ.

On July 21, 2026, the 9 a.m. daily Mass at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, will be offered in memory of Fran.

To celebrate Fran’s life, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Big Moose Community Chapel, Big Moose Rd., Eagle Bay, NY, with a reception to follow.
