Gerald M. Napierski

Camillus

Gerald M. Napierski, 81, of Camillus, passed away Friday at Francis House. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of St. Anthony’s School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965 from Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA. A U.S. Army veteran, Gerald served in the Reservist Civil Affairs for six years. He was a claims assistant manager and workers compensation representative for Travelers/Citigroup for 35 years, retiring in 2001. Gerald was a member of the Camillus Optimists and TKE Fraternity. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, he was also a Eucharistic minister and usher. A lifetime fan of the Dodgers and S.U. sports, Jerry enjoyed time spent together with his friends at his Tuesday morning breakfasts and Wednesday evening get-togethers. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Anna Napierski; brothers, Paul, Richard and Edwin; sister, Dolores Bognaski; and brothers-in-law, Richard Bognaski and Eugene Cappello.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Rose Ann Polastis; son, Steven (Julie) Napierski of Camillus; daughter, Allison (Eric) Haslam of Pompey; grandchildren, Grace and Sara Napierski and Henry and Brooke Haslam; sister-in-law, Andrea Cappello; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. 

Relatives and friends may call Thursday, August 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 11 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Burial will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY  13208 or Hospice of CNY & Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY  13088.
