Grace Virginia (Falcone) Corrente

   Grace Virginia (Falcone) Corrente, 99, of Camillus, passed away Monday at home. Born on June 7, 1923, in Gala, Sicily, she arrived at Ellis Island on July 11, 1929, at the age of six. At age 16, she met the love of her life and they shared 63 years of marriage.

   Grace loved her native Italy. However, she loved, respected, and admired America. She was one of the most patriotic people we knew. She was a huge fan of the John Philip Sousa Marches.

   For 40 years, Grace and her husband enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their summer cottage in Skaneateles, and during retirement, spent the winters in Florida.

   Grace was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church and a former member of its Altar & Rosary Society and Lazarus Committee. She was also a lifetime member of the Solvay VFW Ladies Auxiliary, treasurer of the Camillus Women’s Republican Club, and active with the Volunteer Center in Syracuse for many years.

   Grace was predeceased by her husband, Phillip, in 2004; oldest daughter, Joanne Marie Corrente; and brother, Emmanuel “Red” Falcone.

   Surviving are her daughters, Phyllis (Stephan) Bernardelli and Karen (Steve) Corrente; granddaughters, Kristin and Kimberly; sisters-in-law, Lucy Corrente, Phyllis Pandozzi, and Elizabeth Corrente; and several loving nieces and nephews.

   The family would like to extend their heartful thank you and appreciation to Grace’s nieces, nephews and friends who called and visited when Grace was well into her 90s. A special note to Steve for all your love, care, and support.

   Relatives and friends may call Friday, August 19 from 9 to 11 a.m. in St. Marianne Cope Parish at Our Lady of Peace, 203 Holcolmb St., Lakeland 13209.   A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in the church.

   Grace will be laid to rest in Belle Isle Cemetery, Camillus.
