James E. Nitsch, 82, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully at Upstate Community Hospital on Tuesday.
A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, James was a graduate of West Genesee High School. He dedicated more than 20 years of his career to Harrison Industrial Supply, where he served as general manager.
James was an active member of the Marcellus Optimist Club and the Empire State Theater and Musical Instrument Museum. Above all, James cherished the time he spent with his family.
James was predeceased by his parents Edward and Dorothy.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Cheryl; daughter, Kristen (Robert) Marshall of East Syracuse; sons, Kevin of Marcellus and David (Lisa) of Skaneateles; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; three step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; sister, Beverley Mucciardi of Margate, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Howlett Hill Fire Department, 3384 Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215.
