Jane Kawa Hart, 88, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation on Saturday.
A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Jane was proud of the community she called home throughout her life. She graduated from Vocational High School in 1956 and devoted much of her life to caring for and supporting her family as a homemaker. She also worked for several years at JCPenney in Camillus, where she later retired.
Jane was a longtime communicant of Holy Family Church, where her faith and parish community were an important part of her life. She enjoyed gardening and bowling and took pleasure in the simple things that brought happiness to her days.
Above all, Jane treasured her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of those she loved. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will be cherished and remembered for generations to come.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, John and Katherine Kawa; and eight siblings.
Surviving are her loving husband of 67 years, Donald; daughter, Kathleen (John) Goff of Camillus; sons, Timothy (Molly) of Camillus, Patrick (Kristin) of Marcellus, Daniel (Lisa Najarian) of Ellicott City, MD, and Michael (Jill) of Buffalo; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Jane’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
Private burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
