May 11, 1923 — August 3, 2020

Janet M. Annis, 97, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 at Upstate University Hospital Community Campus. Born in Biskupice, Germany, she moved to the Syracuse area in 1948. Janet retired after 30 years as a nurse with Rayfield Agency in East Syracuse. An active communicant of Holy Family Church, she served as Eucharistic minister, treasurer for the Ladies Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Legion of Mary and Sacred Heart. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing and bowling.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, Philip; and daughter, Carol Varre.

Surviving are her son, Fred of Syracuse; three grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, August 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required.
