Janine B. Scanlon of Camillus, passed away at home, with the comfort of her children by her side. Janine was born in Wisconsin in 1933 and later moved with her parents, Kenneth and Marion Bosché, and her sisters, to Syracuse. She graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School, CCBI, and Onondaga Community College. Before she and her husband Donald married, Janine worked as an administrative assistant and later, when their children were older, she worked in retail. She was very creative, sewing clothes and fabrics for the home. Janine played bridge and bunco and golfed with her friends at Tuscarora Golf Club. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Above all, she loved spending time with family and was blessed to have her children, grandchildren, and her sisters and their families close by.
Janine was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Donald; her parents; and sister, Janet Snyder.
Surviving are her son, Mark (Ann Birdlebough); daughters, Nancy, Margret, and Marcia (Patrick) Hohl; grandchildren, Carolyn Scanlon Volpe, John (Mary Stephanites) Scanlon, Brandon (Chloe) Hohl, Morgan (Colby Spinner) Hohl, and Bridget Hohl; sister, Joan Lynch; brothers-in-law, Robert Lynch, George Snyder and John Scanlon; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hall and Mary Scanlon; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 21 at 11 a.m. at the chapel in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY & Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
