Jesuela “Jessie” M. Calogero, 89, of Syracuse, passed away with love all around her on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Mercy House of the Southern Tier.
A lifetime resident of New York, Jessie was a graduate of Endicott High School. She worked as a key punch operator at IBM during a time when precision and patience were essential, and later continued her working life at Loretto, where she was known for her knowing smile and infectious joy.
Above all else, Jessie was adored by her family and close friends. Her warmth, willingness to help others, and quick sense of humor were hallmarks of her life.
Jessie will be remembered for her playful spirit and the deep pride she took in her family. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore “Tootsie”; daughter, Julie Ann (Calogero) Simmons; grandson, Nicholas Robert Simmons; parents, Carl and Julia LoBello; sister, Nancy Lincoln; and many close friends that meant the world to her.
Surviving are her granddaughters, Megan (Jason) Simmons-Herrling of Revere, MA, Christina (Peter Steding) Simmons of Syracuse; grandson, Nathan Simmons of Auburn; son-in-law, Robert Simmons; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including numerous beloved chosen family members.
To celebrate Jessie’s life, you are are invited to gather to tell a story about her, share in a Jessie laugh, and enjoy ice cream together, just as Jessie would, in her memory on May 4, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
Jessie will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse, close to her beloved daughter.
