Jill A. McShane, 57, of Camillus, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on Wednesday, June 2, 1948 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Raised in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Jill had lived in the Syracuse area since 1977. Trained as a nurse and a medical records technician, she was employed by St. Josephs Hospital Health Center as a manager in the dialysis department. Jill had a zest for life and was actively involved in the lives of her children. Her grandchildren were the center of her life. She had a love of animals and was an active educational volunteer and served on several committees with the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. Her positive attitude was infectious, an inspiration to all she touched. She will be dearly missed. Jill is survived by three sons, Ryan (Christina) of Camillus, Rory of Long Beach and Brendan (Kelly) of Camillus; five grandchildren, Gino, Alex, Braeden, Aaron and Arika; her mother, Beatrice Slater of Wirtz, Virginia; sister, Joan (Duane) Paul of Wirtz, Virginia; five nieces and a nephew. Jill was predeceased by her sister, Janet Yarid in 1988 and her father, Dale Slater in 1995. Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Jill's name to Hospice of Central New York, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers from St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center and Hospice of CNY and for the wonderful care and support given to Jill and family during her illness.
