Joseph R. Scuderi, 74, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday while on vacation, in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
Joe was born and raised in Syracuse. He was a proud graduate of West Genesee High School. He continued his education at Le Moyne College before earning his bachelor’s degree from Gannon University.
During his teenage years, Joe began working alongside his father at the family business, Town and Country Linoleum and Carpet Co., Inc. Through decades of hard work, leadership, and dedication, he carried on the family legacy—eventually becoming owner and president. Over his 45-year career, Joe built not only a successful business but also lasting relationships within his community. He retired in 2009 with great pride in all he had accomplished.
A man of many passions, Joe found peace and joy in the outdoors. An avid fly fisherman and gifted fly tier, his exceptional talent earned him international recognition among fellow anglers. Whether on the water, in the woods, or out on a boat, he found beauty and fulfillment in nature.
Joe was also a former motorcycle rider who treasured time spent with friends and family, sharing laughter and stories along the way. At home, his love of cooking brought his family together around the table. He was a skilled and enthusiastic cook.
Above all, Joe was devoted to his family. He cherished every moment spent with them—celebrating life’s milestones, enjoying everyday gatherings, and creating memories that will be forever treasured.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Carmen and Virginia.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Donna; daughter, Dena (Jason) Graham of Syracuse; sons, Jesse (Erin) of Williamson, and Jeremy (Sara Midgley-Scuderi) of Syracuse; grandchildren, Dennis, Mya, Emmett, Josephine, Virginia, Madison, and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Alayna and Clayton; sister, Mary Hughes of Syracuse; and many nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Joe’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Burial will be private.
