Judith “Judy” Melillo, 70, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Loretto Health and Rehabilitation on Thursday.
A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Judy graduated from West Genesee High School in 1974 and earned her associate degree in food service from Alfred State College. She worked for 20 years as a food service worker with Onondaga County.
Judy’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devout Christian, she joyfully shared her gift of music, singing on the praise teams at every church she was affiliated with. Her uplifting spirit, warm smile, and heartfelt, handwritten cards left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love of song, and the way she made others feel truly cared for.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Anne Melillo.
Surviving are her brothers, David (Jen Rinaldo) of Camillus and Dennis and James, both of Palm Bay, FL; sisters, Kathleen (Bill) Salvaterra of Syracuse and Susan (George) Sedlack of Camillus; nieces, April, Alex, Emily, and Samantha; and several cousins.
To celebrate Judy’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
