Katherine Sears

Katherine Sears, 97, of Minoa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, at Iroquois Nursing Home.

Born and raised in Minoa, Katherine was a graduate of Minoa High School and remained a lifelong resident of the community she loved. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker and graciously welcomed friends and guests into her home throughout the years.

A lifelong communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Katherine's faith was an important part of her life. It was there that she was baptized and married.

Katherine found great joy in cooking for her family and took pride in canning vegetables harvested from the family garden.

Katherine will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, strong work ethic, and the love she shared with generations of family, friends and best neighbors.

Katherine was predeceased by her son, John; parents, Vladimir Olshanicky and Helen Viniski; siblings, John, Andy, Paul, Antonette, Mary, and Anna.

Surviving are her son, Donald of Minoa; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated, Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 401 N. Main St., Minoa.

Katherine will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heaven’s Pantry, 250 East Ave., Minoa, NY 13116.
