Kimberly Rizzo McGee, 64, of Frederick, MD, passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2025. Her passing leaves an unfillable void in the lives of her family and friends. Kim lived life with unabashed enthusiasm and worked to instill that spirit in others.
Born and raised in Camillus, NY, Kim spent several years living in California and Thailand as a youth while her father completed his decorated U.S. Army career. She graduated from West Genesee where she proudly played the piccolo for the High School Marching Band. She enjoyed the reunions and marching in the local parades that highlighted the award-winning talents of the group. She attended Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated from Syracuse University. After her successful education, Kim worked as a consultant with Pampered Chef where she rose through the ranks from customer to regional director. She received many company awards, trips and vacations in recognition of her team’s accomplishments.
Soon after marrying in 1997, the newlyweds moved to Maryland in support of her husband’s career. It was here that Kim created another strong circle of friends through her knack for hosting and volunteering. When her only child was born in 1998, Kim made being a mom her primary focus. She threw herself into parenthood and absolutely shined in this vital role. Megan will forever be her pride and joy.
Kim was an active member and volunteer at the Frederick Elks Lodge 684. Her being an organizer extraordinaire was quite beneficial when, only a few years ago, she took an elevated position with the Lodge’s weekly and special event Bingo programs.
Kim had many pleasures in life: reading, shopping (as she was the world’s best gift giver), concerts, pontoon rides on the lake, singing karaoke, visiting New York City, and attending Megan’s shows. A serious competitor, she played a multitude of card and board games with determination, a long-standing Rizzo tradition. Kim was up for any game. Outcomes didn’t always go her way, but she bested her opponents frequently enough! And, if you forgot, she would jovially remind you.
Kimberly is preceded in death by her father, Daniel Rizzo, Sr., brother-in-law, Wayne McDonald, aunt and uncle David and Jennifer Rizzo, father- and mother-in-law, Harold and Jeanne McGee, and brother- and sister-in-law Frank and Alice Fernandes.
Kim is survived by her husband and daughter, John and Megan McGee, mother, Gail Rizzo, siblings Daniel Rizzo, Jr. (Jeanine) and Cheryl McDonald (Chris Lego), brother-in-law Robert McGee (Jennifer), and sister-in-law Judi Bayer (Craig). Kim’s extensive family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews are also grieving. Beyond her cherished relatives, Kim is mourned by her friends whom she considered family and made them feel as such.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, 2025, 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland. A memorial service will be conducted immediately following the visitation hours.
Services in her hometown will occur on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St, Camillus, New York which will be immediately followed by a memorial service.
Kim will be laid to rest at a later date in Syracuse, NY.
