Brewerton

Laurie H. DiDone, 66, of Brewerton, passed away peacefully at home unexpectedly on Thursday.

Born and raised on a farm in Herkimer, Laurie developed a lifelong love of horses. During her younger years, she divided her time between Herkimer and Salisbury, New York, before making her home in the Clay area. Laurie graduated from Dolgeville High School and later earned her associate degree from Mohawk Valley Community College. She enjoyed a successful career as a financial advisor for more than 30 years.

Laurie found joy in life's simple pleasures, from skiing and gardening to preparing memorable meals for those she loved. An exceptional cook and gracious hostess, she delighted in bringing family and friends together for dinners and celebrations. Her greatest happiness, however, came from spending time with her beloved family, especially her cherished grandbabies, who were truly her joy, her heart, and her soul.

Known for her generous spirit, Laurie was a natural caretaker who always put others before herself. Her home was a welcoming place where everyone felt like family, and her door was always open to anyone in need. She took genuine pride in caring for others, offering kindness, compassion, and support without hesitation. Laurie touched countless lives through her selflessness, warmth, and unwavering love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Laurie was predeceased by her stepfather, Douglas Harper; and brother, Douglas Harper Jr.

Surviving are her daughter, Danielle (James William III) Rowlands; son, Matthew (Cristina DeMatteo) DiDone; grandchildren, Hunter and Dawson Rowlands and Antonio DiDone; mother, Penelope Harper; father, Stewart (Deborah) Helmer; siblings, Tanya (Andrew) James, Justin (Summer) Helmer, and Rebecca Helmer-Woods; nephew, Zachary Harper; and niece, Madelyn Harper.

To celebrate Laurie’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

In lieu of flowers, because Laurie had a profound love of animals, contributions may be made to Helping hounds Dog Rescue, 7268 Caswell St., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
