Lawrence “Larry” David Hsu, 51, of New York City, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Born in Reading, PA, Larry moved to Camillus, NY, with his family in 1979. A 1992 graduate of West Genesee High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1997. During his school years, Larry was an active athlete, playing soccer and lacrosse in high school and continuing with lacrosse at RPI. He was also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity while at RPI.
Larry began his professional career in information technology at Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS) before moving on to positions at JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank. Over time, he transitioned into trading, where he worked in index arbitrage for several years, applying his exceptional analytical abilities. After leaving banking, he became a managing member of LDH Capital Miami, LLC.
Larry loved living in New York City and embraced the countless opportunities it offered. He especially enjoyed walking through Central Park, visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and participating in dodgeball and volleyball leagues. He had a passion for collecting model trains, playing his keyboard, and attending concerts with friends. He was also an avid sports fan.
Larry was known for his remarkable intelligence—a true math genius—with a deep intellectual curiosity. Beneath that sharp mind, he was also a sensitive and thoughtful soul who will be fondly remembered by those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
Surviving are his parents, Fine and Mary Hsu of Syracuse; sister, Pearl (Chris) Pugh of Newtown, PA; nephew, Jonathan Pugh; and niece, Fiona Pugh.
To celebrate Larry’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
Larry will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) at NAMI or NAMI, P.O. Box 49104, Baltimore, MD 21297.
