Margaret P. Harvey, 89, of Geddes, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 8.
A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, Margaret graduated from Valley High School and attended SUNY Oswego. She worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone Co., where she was known for her professionalism and friendly manner.
A devoted parishioner of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Margaret found joy in her family and faith. She enjoyed sewing and cooking, sharing her talents with friends and family. A lifelong animal lover, she especially adored cats and rescued many over the years, giving them loving homes.
Margaret will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and gentle spirit.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Alan R. Harvey; parents, Edward and Adaline Purcell; brothers, William (Louise) and Edward (Leona) Purcell; and sister, Nancy (Edwin) Andrews.
Surviving are her children, Nancy (Kevin) Combs of Florida, David (Cynthia Guiles) Harvey, and Daniel Harvey, both of Syracuse, and Mary Beth (Curtis Cook Jr.) Harvey of Parish; grandchildren, Tory Roberts, Thomas VanBuren, and Justin, Joshua, and James Harvey; six great-grandchildren; nieces, Helen Smith, Mary Schlie, Lorry Scudo, Johanne Bradford, Annemarie Diola, and Sue Ellen Knowles; nephews, John, Eddie, Matthew, Tim, Michael, and Jackie Purcell; friend, Liz Bebee, and countless others whose lives she touched.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10 a.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5402 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Margaret will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
