Marigrace Rose Creme, 100, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Upstate Community Hospital. Born on October 17, 1923, she made her mark in the world with kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family and faith.
Marigrace's journey began in Lyons, NY, before she settled in the Syracuse area at the age of nine. She pursued her education at Eastwood High School and later worked as a nurse’s aide and munitions factory worker during WWII. Marigrace’s selflessness extended beyond her professional endeavors, as she volunteered as a Eucharistic minister at The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter and Community Hospital, embodying her deep-rooted faith and commitment to serving others.
Throughout her life, Marigrace actively participated in various community organizations, including the Legion of Mary at St. Lucy's Church and the Red Hat Society. A passionate dancer, she found joy in ballroom dancing and indulged in the artistry of shows such as "Dancing with the Stars." However, it was her talent for baking and her warm hospitality that truly touched the lives of those around her, as she welcomed new neighbors with her signature homemade cinnamon buns.
Marigrace was predeceased by her husband, Anthony; son, Robert; and brother, Vincent Gayliard.
Surviving are her daughters, Joan (Gary) Feierstein of Denton, NC, Judy (John) McIlvain and Jacquelyn (Joe) Congel, both of Charlotte, NC, Janet (David) Salenski of Astoria, OR, and Jerilyn (Paul) Payne of Syracuse; son, Ronald of Canastota; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
