Marjorie Ellen (Machin) Tyler

Marjorie Ellen (Machin) Tyler, “Marge” 90, of Fairmount, passed away Saturday at Iroquois Nursing home. Born in Syracuse, on February 4th, 1930, she was a proud 1949 graduate of Central High School. She worked and retired from the telephone company as a long distance operator. Marge was a life member of the Erie Canal and volunteer of the year. She was actively involved in New York State christian education and the Methodist Church; most recently attending Bellevue Heights Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and valued education. In addition, she enjoyed spending time with friends playing Pinochle. Spending time in the Adirondacks, particularly Blue Mountain Lake at her cabin with her family and friends brought her immense joy. She loved her friends, family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was grateful to spend so many years, milestones and memories with the ones she loved.

Marjorie was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, William Tyler, her parents, her sister Doris Cowburn and her brother Allen Machin.

Surviving are her daughter Sandra Tyler Cutler of Geddes; son Gary Tyler of Fairmount whom she resided with and was her caretaker for numerous years; nephews Dave Cowburn, Douglass Cowburn, Richard Cowburn and Arthur Cowburn who she considered her sons; grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Young and Matthew and Erin Cutler; four great-grandchildren Connor, Ava, Aivleen and Hunter. Marge was also survived by, Shiu-Kai Chin and Larry Browning, who were like sons to her.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, October 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Camillus Erie Canal Park, 5750 DeVoe Rd., Camillus, to plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Majorie Ellen Tyler or to the American Parkinson Disease Association, www.apdaparkinson.org.
