Mary Teresa Stack

Mary Teresa Stack, 89, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on Tuesday.

Born in County Cork, Ireland, Mary earned her nursing degree in Dublin in 1958 before moving to the United States. She met the love of her life, Mike, shortly thereafter at an AOH dance, whom she married, and they shared 60 wonderful years together. They eventually settled in Camillus where they lived for more than 30 years. A devoted and compassionate caregiver, Mary worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 1997.

After retirement, Mary spent 23 wonderful years in Dunedin, Florida, with her husband and family. She remained active in the Westhill and Sunnycrest golf leagues and was a faithful communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and an active member of the Altar & Rosary Society.

She will be remembered for her deep faith, kind spirit, and selfless devotion to her family, patients, and community.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 2021; parents, John and Mary Clifford; and siblings, Nan Coughlan, Patrick Clifford, and John Clifford.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Sean Michael Stack of Pulaski; daughter, Maureen Sexton of Camillus; daughter-in-law, Lori Stack of Syracuse; grandchildren, Timmy Sexton, Shelby Stack, Abby Stack, Liam Sexton, and Sean Maxwell Stack; siblings, Amy Rush, Katherine Twomey, Michael Clifford, Bridget Bronner, and Annette Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.

A sincere thank you to the Brookdale Senior Living community, whose staff and residents brought her comfort, companionship, and joy over the past two years.

To celebrate Mary’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church.

Mary will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt at a later date.
