Michael Belvito

July 22, 1958 — February 5, 2024

Syracuse

Michael Belvito, 65, of Syracusepassed away Monday. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Marcellus High School. A member of the IBEW Union, Michael was a talented self-employed electrician for many years. A true outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and even had a love for drawing the wildlife that brought him solace (one of his works of art displayed here). Being in nature brought him comfort and fulfillment.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Virginia.

Surviving are his sons, Joseph and Colin; grandsons, Cameron and Dean; brother, Richard (Tess); sister, Lisa (Henry Newman) Belvito; a niece; two nephews; and several cousins.

From his son, Joe:

I give thanks to you! …for being the Dad that I needed at the time I needed it the most. During those times, you showed the example of how to be a man and how to be a father. Even in the bad times, I learned many life lessons from you. You left a lasting impact on me. All of it has molded me into the man I am today.

Please know that you will forever live through your grandchildren. You best believe they are going to know how to tie a fisherman's knot, where those fish are hiding, that Rapalas are not cheap, to not force the fish, KEEP THE ROD UP and lastly, make sure to pull up the trolling motor before trying to race the thunder and lightning.

More “wisdom” we will pass on from you: ~Flying set mouse traps and flaming tissues at unexpected kids make for a good laugh. ~Roughhousing is all fun and games until somebody gets hurt. ~Make sure to show up to the extracurricular activities; they matter.

When hunting…~The gun is fun, but the bow is better. ~You will never get closer to nature and God than when bow hunting. ~How to find deer signs and where to set up a stand. ~PICK UP YOUR FEET and be still. ~It shouldn't be easy to kill, and not to waste. ~RESPECT. ~When in the woods, make sure to squat far away from your pants because that's a mistake you don't want to make (Also, it's very important to know what leaves to use.) On that note, I will make sure to pass down the best advice ever: never trust a fart!!

Until we meet again, I love you and will miss you!
