Michail Petrovets, 89, of Syracuse, passed away Monday at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Perebrody, Ukraine, he was the beloved son of the late Titus and Paraskovia Petrovets. Michail came to the U.S. in 1989 and was employed with Kraft Foods. He was an individual who had an immense love for sharing the word of God with others. Michail’s heart overflowed with a deep passion to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ and to bring others closer to Him. His unwavering faith in Jesus Christ served as a guiding light in his life, providing him with strength, hope, and a sense of purpose. Through Michail’s words, actions, and genuine love for others, he touched the lives of many, inspiring them to embrace the message of love, forgiveness, and salvation that Jesus brought to the world. Michail found joy in the tranquility of fishing and loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Michail was predeceased by his wife, Olga, in 2009; grandson, Alex, in 2004; and seven of his siblings.
Surviving are his children, Vladimir (Maria) of Ukraine, Vasily (Tatyana) of Warners, Nina (Ivan) Yevsovich of Ukraine, Petro (Oksana) of Warners, Pavel (Nina) of Syracuse, John (Natasha) of Warners, Grigory of Warners, Natasha (Rod) Pate of Castorland, Katie (Sergey) Vashchishin of Syracuse, and Maria (Luybomir) Romanchuk of Syracuse; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Alexandra (Alexander) Petrovets of Ukraine; and many nieces and nephews.
A first service will be celebrated Friday, February 9, 2024, at 7 p.m. at the First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, 3875 Warners Rd., Syracuse. A second service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the church.
Michail will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
