Mildred Lennon Winn

August 17, 1927 — December 6, 2020

Mildred Winn, nee Lennon, 93, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, at her daughter Kathy’s home surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born in New York City in 1927, the youngest of four close siblings. She grew up in Greenwich Village and Brooklyn, roller skating and saving precious nickels for the movies. She met her husband of 60 delighted years, Bob, the day after he came home from service in WWII. After they moved to Syracuse in 1959, she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church for 59 years.

Mildred reveled in life’s ordinary charms and comforts: a good book, tea and a cookie, a Netflix in the mailbox, a newsy call from a grandchild or a niece. She had a unique sparkle, and the gift of always being generously, fully present. She was tenaciously herself to the very end; and will live in many hearts as an exemplar of unselfish love and integrity.

Given the public health circumstances, the family will have a private service.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Bob in 2007.

Surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Frank) Jerome and Jackie (Bob Friedlander) Winn; grandchildren, Molly and Beth Jerome and Jocelyn (JP Aubry) Friedlander and Rob Friedlander.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mildred may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
