Nancy Marie Lasher

June 1, 1931 — January 14, 2022

Nancy Marie Lasher, 90, passed away peacefully at home on January 14. She was born to Gladys C. Erikson and Fred Zinserling in Norristown, PA on June 1, 1931.

Nancy was raised and educated in the Syracuse area and Jamestown, NY. She married Richard L. Hall in 1949 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She worked as head cashier for Loblaws until their first child, Lisa, came into their lives, after two years, Mark, and Jeff, two years later.

After the untimely death of Dick Hall at age 42 in 1970, Nancy worked part-time at Sears & Roebuck where she met her second husband, T. Richard Barr. They married and Nancy went back to school to use her love of caring for people to become a nurse. After graduation, she worked at Community General Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1990. After retiring, she spent part of her time with Shirley Hubbel and later Kaye Folsom working on local estate sales.

During the children’s school years, Nancy was involved with the Mother’s Club, Pop Warner football and baseball teams, and as a Camp Fire leader. She was an active community member as part of the Westhill Citizens Advisory Committee, and also a part of the Friends of the Onondaga Hill Library where she was a chairperson for many book sales. She was also a long-time crafter for Habitat for Humanity.

Nancy’s mother and best friend, Gladys, moved in with her and Dick in January of 1989. Sadly, in October 1989, Dick passed away at home. For a few more years, Nancy and Gladys continued spending summers at the camp Nancy and Dick had in Mexico, NY and then lived together year-round in the house on Onondaga Hill until Gladys passed away in January 1999.
After being widowed for almost 10 years, Nancy met Robert Lasher. They married in December 1997 at Onondaga Hill Presbyterian Church where Nancy had been a member for many years. She was active on the Pastoral Nominating Committee, a past ruling elder and past deacon. She and Robert became members of the Onondaga Hill Antiques Club. They moved to Oswego a few years later and eventually moved to the Baldwinsville area, becoming active members in the local church and senior center.

Nancy was a world traveler for many years. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, quilting, crocheting, furniture restoration and gardening.

Nancy was predeceased by husbands, Richard Hall and T. Richard Barr; son, Mark Hall; and grandson, Daniel Hall.
Nancy is survived by husband, Robert Lasher; daughter, Lisa Solomon; son, Jeffrey Hall; brother, Jack Zinserling; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Besides family, Nancy leaves behind many friends made throughout her very active life.

Nancy’s faith in God was very important to her and she will be best remembered as a strong, positive, generous, and fun loving person.

There will be no calling hours.

Donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to a local animal shelter or the SPCA.

Nancy lived by these words, “Every day of life requires courage. We must do the things we think we cannot do.”
