Patricia J. Marrs

Patricia “Pat” Marrs, 87, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place.

Born in Syracuse, Pat spent many years living in Cicero, Marcellus, and Onondaga Hill. She was a proud 1957 graduate of North Syracuse High School and later attended Eastman Dental School.

Throughout her career, Pat worked as a quality auditor for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She also worked for GE, Dr. Santos’ office, and at Dey Brothers.

Pat was an active and devoted member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, where she was very involved with the Altar Guild. She also generously gave her time as a volunteer at Camillus Erie Canal Park.

Pat found great joy in the simple things in life. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and took great pride in caring for her lawn, which always appeared immaculate. Her cats held a special place in her heart.

Above all, Pat treasured her family especially her grandchildren. The time she spent with those she loved was the most important part of her life, and she will be remembered for the love, care, and presence she shared with them.

Pat’s kindness, dedication, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church community, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband, David Marrs Sr.; parents, John Casey and Louise (Anthony) Sackett; and brother, Dr. James B. Casey.

Surviving are her son, David (Jackie) Marrs, Jr. of Marietta; daughters, Melinda (Mark) Mayer and Amy (Mark) Gasowski, both of Syracuse; grandchildren, Andrea (Anthony) Markusz, John (Hannah Comstock) Marrs, Casey Mayer, Mark (Emily Decker) Mayer Jr., Mark (Rachel) Gasowski, Jr., and Gabrielle (John Mitrzyk) Gasowski; great-grandchildren, Mark Gasowski III and Mark William Mayer; sister-in-law, Diane Casey of New Albany, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To celebrate Patricia’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5402 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral service will follow at the church.

Patricia will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
