Patrick “Pat” James Richards, 34, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11 with his family by his side. Born in Lansdale, PA, just outside of Philadelphia, he spent most of his life in the Syracuse area after his family moved to Camillus when he was nine. Pat was a graduate of West Genesee High School and attended Onondaga Community College and SUNY Brockport as a broadcasting major. He cherished the great outdoors and was an avid camper and hiker, finding solace in the beauty of nature. Pat's heart held a special place for dogs, particularly the beloved family basset hounds who shared his life. All who knew him knew that his true passion was music. Pat proudly carried the sousaphone as a member of the West Genesee Wildcat Marching Band. Beyond his high school marching band days, Pat was a dedicated drummer and an integral part of several Ska bands, performing with friends at local shows. As much as he enjoyed playing music, he also enjoyed listening to and sharing music with others. His family and friends will be forever reminded of Pat whenever they hear one of the many songs that they first heard from him.
Patrick is predeceased by his paternal grandmother, “Nanny” Geraldine Richards; and maternal grandparents, Frederick and Carol Rademacher.
Patrick is survived by his parents, David and Linda Richards of Yarmouth Port, MA; brother, Sean (Stephanie) of White Plains; sister, Jennifer (Sean) Solarte of Camillus; grandfather, “Poppy” Joseph Richards of Rensselaer; grandmother, Alberta Rademacher of Milford, PA; his loving girlfriend, Maggie Treinin of Syracuse; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be private.
The family would like to thank the Upstate University MICU 6I Team for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
