Marietta

Paul E. Straka, 68, of Marietta, passed away peacefully on Saturday, at Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center. A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, Paul was a graduate of Onondaga Central High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Paul was a self-employed landscaper who took great pride in his work and enjoyed spending much of his time outdoors. He especially cherished the time he spent by the pond he created, which became a special place for him to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Paul was a former communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. He also loved watching football and spending time with his friends, sharing plenty of good conversation and laughter along the way.

Most of all, Paul treasured his family and friends. He was happiest when surrounded by the people he cared about and enjoyed the simple moments spent together. His kindness, friendship and love for those close to him will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Paul was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Ruth Straka; and brothers, Michael and Peter Straka.

Surviving are his sister, Elaine Straka of Marietta; niece, Victoria Graf; and several cousins.
