Paula J. (Casler) Patell, 72, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Utica, Paula moved to the Syracuse area at a young age, where she remained a lifelong resident. She graduated from West Genesee High School and went on to earn her BS Degree in Nursing from SUNY Brockport. Throughout her career, Paula dedicated herself to caring for others. She spent many years as a nurse in the nursery at St. Joseph's Hospital and later served as the Director of Resident Services at McHarrie Place in Baldwinsville. Her years in nursing and resident care reflected her compassion and commitment to helping others.

Paula had a passion for the arts and a deep appreciation for nature. A creative individual, she enjoyed expressing herself through pottery and painting. She especially loved spending time in the Adirondacks, where she found peace and happiness, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Above all, Paula's greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She cherished every moment shared with them, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Paula will be remembered for her creative spirit, her love of nature, and, most importantly, the love and devotion she had for her family.

Paula was predeceased by her parents, Howard “Bud” and Jane Casler.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Michael; daughters, Melissa (Ryan) Maloney and Sarah (Ben) Buley, both of Syracuse; grandchildren, Harrison, Alex, Isla, and Emilia; brothers, Peter (Patricia) Casler of Long Island and Daniel Casler of Syracuse; sisters, Christine (Michael) O'Brien of Penn Yan and Amy (Eric) Rasmussen of Remsen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

To celebrate Paula’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
