Peter Meluni

Peter Meluni, 73, of Camillus, passed away Friday at his home. A longtime resident of Syracuse, he came to the United States from Anagni, Italy at age 12. He was a 1967 graduate of Baldwinsville Academy and graduated from The Hiram Scott College (Nebraska) in 1971. Peter was extremely active in Camillus youth sports, coaching baseball and basketball from 1983-1992. He enjoyed walking and biking with friends, spending time with family and watching his grandkids play sports. He was also an avid Syracuse University sports fan.  

Peter was predeceased by his parents, David and Beatrice Meluni; Uncle Dante Meluni and Aunt Amerina Ciocci.

Surviving are his son, Dave (Kristina) Meluni; daughter, Claudia (Phil) Donoway; longtime girlfriend, Filomena Valentino; and grandchildren, Nicholas Meluni, Landyn Shaw and Ariella Donoway.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, July 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Peter will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Peter’s memory to Camillus Parks and Recreation, 1 Shove Park Drive, Camillus, NY 13031 for the kids, the way Peter would want it to be.
