Philip J. Salvaterra, 78, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Thursday at his home.
Philip was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. He was a graduate of West Genesee High School and went on to earn his associate degree from Morrisville College. He was employed with Allied Chemical for more than 10 years, beginning his career in the boiler room and eventually becoming a supervisor. Following the closing of Allied Chemical, Philip, along with a partner, established Sachs, Salvaterra and Associates in Syracuse. He proudly owned and operated the business as vice president for 23 years, before retiring in 2008.
Philip was a true car enthusiast and took great pride in his love of automobiles. Above all, however, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary; and brothers, Joseph and Gene.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Linda; son, Michael (Melissa) Salvaterra of Denver, CO; daughters, Lynne (John) Haberstock of Skaneateles, Natalie (Daniel) Connors of Syracuse, and Lisa (Kyle) Cottrell of Scottsdale, AZ; 16 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the S.P.C.A., 5878 E. Malloy Rd., Syracuse, NY 13211.
