Priscilla (Campbell) Edwards

Priscilla (Campbell) Edwards, 89, of Syracuse, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was called home to God surrounded by loving family. Born on August 18, 1936, in Syracuse, to Edith and Raymond Campbell, Priscilla spent her early years in the city she cherished. She attended Ed Smith Elementary School and Nottingham High School before graduating from Wells College with a degree in sociology. After college, Priscilla taught briefly at Grant Middle School, where she inspired young minds with her warmth and curiosity. She later met and married the love of her life, Lee Edwards. Together they built a joyful, loving home and raised three children. Priscilla’s greatest joy was her family, and she poured her heart into raising her children and later, delighting in her grandchildren.

When her children were grown, Priscilla turned her boundless compassion toward rescuing animals in need. She founded a thrift shop, Priscilla’s Guardians of Animals, dedicated to supporting the care of stray and abandoned cats. Her mission continues today, a living testament to her kindness and determination to make the world gentler for all living beings. Those who knew Priscilla will remember her generous spirit, quirky sense of humor, and deep kindness. She led with love in all that she did, believing that a meaningful life is one lived with compassion and decency. She was loved by all who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of her family, her friends, and the many creatures who found refuge through her care.

Priscilla was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Edith Campbell; brother, Owen Campbell; and grandson, Jonathan Seel.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Lee; son James (Lisa Ferri) Edwards; daughters, Edith (Mark) Seel and Pamela (Geoffrey Hopkins) Edwards; grandchildren, Madeline, Griffin, Abigail, Mason, Priscilla and James.

A Celebration of Priscilla’s Life will be held at a later date with her close family.
