Richard C. Bryant, 97, of Camillus, passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Bonnie, by his side, on September 9 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Auburn before relocating to Camillus in 2021.

Richard lived a life marked by service, integrity, and love. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for 22 years as a cryptographer, rising in rank to Senior Master Sergeant. He was among the few who served in three major conflicts—World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. His dedication to duty and country remained a guiding principle throughout his life.

Following his military service, Richard continued to serve the public as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service, where he worked for over two decades with the same discipline and commitment he brought to his military career.

A man of quiet intellect, Richard was an avid reader, always seeking knowledge and enjoying the escape and perspective that books provided. He was also a proud and active member of American Legion Post 1776 and Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 704. Through these communities, he built lasting friendships and continued his lifelong support for fellow service members.

Above all, Richard cherished his family. His greatest joy came from time spent with his loved ones, and he will be remembered for his steady wisdom, unwavering support, and the love he shared so generously.

Richard was predeceased by his brother, Jack.

Surviving are his wife; son, Richard (Eileen) of Boynton Beach, FL; daughter, Debra Bryant of Auburn; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and sister, Virginia Colella of Auburn.

A Memorial service will be held on September 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cayuga County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Monument at Centerport Aqueduct Park, Brutus. The United States Air Force Honor Guard will bestow military honors.

Richard will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, at the convenience of his family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
