Richard Leonard Henry, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran.

Richard dedicated over 28 years of service to New York State, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. He was a member of American Legion Post #1832 and attended Christ Community Church.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed guns, motorcycles, and scuba diving—pursuits that reflected his adventurous spirit and love of hands-on hobbies. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his beloved wife and grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.

Richard will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, and devotion to family and country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Grace; and daughter, Angel.

Surviving are his wife of 53 1/2 years, Mary; son, James (Paige) Henry; daughters, Karen Henry and Kathleen (Matthew Sr.) Snyder; 16 grandchildren; 11 plus great-grandchildren; siblings, Chuck (Darlene) Henry, Joseph Henry, Joanne Ormsby, Jeanie (John) Palmer, and Allen (Kay) Parsons; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In celebration of Richard’s life, relatives and friends may call, Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
