Richard Andrew O'Brien

Richard Andrew O’Brien, 76, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday at Upstate Community Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a 1965 graduate of Valley High School. Richard was employed by DPW as a dispatcher for over 40 years before retiring in 2011. An avid sports fan, especially for SU basketball, he enjoyed Miller Lite beer, laughing and having fun. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Richard was predeceased by his wife, Roberta; parents, Maurice and Marian O'Brian; and brother, John D. O’Brien.

Surviving are his daughter, Michelle Hewitt of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Sharlee Nazarkiewicz, and Liam and Riley Etienne; brother, Thomas; and many cousins.

Services will be private.
