Robert E. “Bob” Lake, 67, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday.
Bob was a graduate of Corcoran High School and went on to earn his associate’s degree from Onondaga Community College. He dedicated over 30 years of his career to Filips Home Remodeling, where he was known for his craftsmanship, work ethic, and commitment to helping families turn their houses into homes, before retiring in 2010.
A former communicant of Holy Family Church, Bob was also deeply involved in the community, serving as a coach for CYO basketball for 20 years, where he mentored countless young athletes with patience, humor, and heart.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob found joy in nature — whether it was casting a line in his favorite fishing spots, tending to his garden, or spending a day on the golf course with his son. A devoted S.U. fan, he could often be found cheering on the Orange.
Bob cherished vacations to Florida, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. His love, laughter, and presence will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Bob was predeceased by his father, Robert; sister, Susan Zorn; and brothers-in-law, Larry and Rev. David James.
Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Lou; son, Timothy (Erin Brennan) of Solvay; mother, Mary Lake of Syracuse; sister, Carol Hill of Syracuse; grand-dogs, Olive and Sage; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
To celebrate Bob’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Robert will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
