Rose "Rosie" Winnicki

June 22, 1921 — February 24, 2006

Rose Rosie Vetroock Winnicki, 84, of Fairmount, died Friday, February 24, 2006 at James Square Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Syracuse on Wednesday, June 22, 1921, she was the daughter of Theodore Vetroock and Katherine Kuzio. She lived in Fairmount for 18 years until moving to the Jordan-Meridian area where she resided for 25 years. In 1944, she returned to Fairmount. Rose was a 1940 graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School. During World War II, Rose was employed by D. Grandinetti Manufacturing Co. as a machine operator and inspector, W.T. Grant as section head and salesclerk and G.C. Murphy as floor lady and salesclerk. Rose was a former member, president and trustee of the Cross Lake Boat Club. She was also a member of the Canton Woods Senior Centers and former member of the Jordan-Elbridge Senior Center. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed fishing, knitting sweaters for her family and the casino. Her husband, Anthony Joseph Woe Winnicki, died August 26, 1985. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Roth of Fairmount; four granddaughters and their husbands, Rosemarie and David Menga of Newport News, Virginia; Elizabeth and William Cerchia of Weedsport, Jennifer and Michael Skotniski of Weedsport and Amy and Corey LaVigne of Bear, Delaware and seven great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alissa, Matthew, Jonathan, Abigail, Zachary and Gabrielle. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Tuesday, February 28, 2006 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of Central New York, Inc., Suite 188, P.O. Box 250, Camillus, NY 13031.
