Roseanne Hoey Corrigan, 93, of Camillus, passed away on Saturday, after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Mary and James Hoey. Roseanne received her BSN from Duquesne University and was a member of the Alpha Tau Delta National Fraternity for Professional Nurses. Employed at St. Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, she was also president of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Nurse’s League. After her marriage to Owen Corrigan, Roseanne moved to New York City where she taught nursing at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She later graduated from St. John’s University with an MSN in nursing.

In 1961, Roseanne and Owen moved to the Syracuse area and soon after settled in Camillus. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, she taught religious education and was a Perpetual Adoration adorer. Roseanne worked as a nurse for the West Genesee Central School District, Castle Rest Nursing Home, and retired from St. Camillus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a staff educator. After retirement, she worked at an educational testing company, Prometric, Inc., until the age of 90. She was also an active board member of It Could Happen to You, a non-profit dedicated to justice reform.

Roseanne was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Owen; parents, James and Mary Hoey; sister, Mary Elizabeth Walsh; and brother, James Hoey.

Surviving are her daughters, Therese (William) Corrigan-Bastuk and Patricia (Paul) Syrocki; grandson, Garrett (Mandie Hewitt) Bastuk; great-granddaughters, Lola, Kenna, and Hailey; goddaughter, Maribeth Walsh; sister-in-law, Rosemary Hoey; and several nieces and nephews.

Roseanne wanted to acknowledge the kindness of friends and neighbors, Pat and Terri Ashmore, Bernie Bondoni, the McGrath Family, Dolores Sarkis, Tim Suppes, Virginia Tedesco, Sylvia Uczen, Shane Ventura, Mary Lou Weinberger, and Charlotte Wos.

Roseanne’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Petrie and the staff at Crouse Hospital for their loving care.

Roseanne was a strong, loving, and devoted mother who instilled the importance of faith in her children's and grandchildren’s lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A remembrance of Roseanne’s life will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
